Daytona Beach has something for everyone! Whether you want to lounge on the beach, see an exciting race at the Speedway, or check out the newly renovated pier there’s so much to see at The World’s Most Famous Beach!
With a close proximity to great cruise ports, amusement parks and space museums, it’s little wonder that Daytona Beach is a Florida hot spot for visitors. Sitting against the coast of the Atlantic and above Miami, tourist can explore on their way to Walt Disney World, Sea World or any of the emerald coast beaches. Or, they may choose to stay in Daytona.
Spring-breakers from around the country converge on Daytona Beach every year to celebrate graduations and the end of the school year. Blowing off a year of study-steam, the revelers take a week to regroup and mingle with friends along the beaches and boardwalks of Daytona Beach.
Harley Davidson riders hit the streets along the beach, making Daytona come alive with rumbling thunder as they ride by, each strutting a more artistic bike than the last. The biker rally brings thousands every year to either participate or to observe as the bikes with custom paint-jobs, exquisite detailing and loads of chrome show off. Bike week starts in March and runs for 10 days. Crowds can swell to over 500,000 people, making this the largest biker event in the world. Biketober is held in October when the weather is cooler. People from all over come to enjoy fall breezes and see bikes from all makers.
Bikes are not the only vehicles that enjoy Daytona. The famous Daytona 500 is held at the Daytona Speedway for race fans. Watch as big names like Dale Jarrett and Kyle Bush hug the turns and squeeze out a spot for the winner’s circle.
With miles of hard-packed toast-colored sand, Daytona Beach is most famous for, well, its beach. Drive the car along the sand. Park near the waves and grab the coolers, the chairs and some sunscreen. Spend the day working on a perfect tan or splashing in the cool waves. Body boards are perfect for playing in the high waves- ride all the way into the shore. Or grab a paddle board and try balancing in the surf, skimming along like a water spider on the surface of the water. Some adventurous people will grab the jet skis and bounce along, sailing high into the air and crashing back down. Those who prefer an aerial view can get on one of the parasailing rides. Soar high into the air above the ocean, viewing the dolphins and people far below. Look over into the city of Daytona Beach. Watch the gulls floating on the air currents below. Visitors who prefer to have an enclosed ride can try a helicopter tour over the beach or the city or both. Narrated tours from the air give an informative birds-eye view of all of Daytona.
Bikers, college kids, families and couples can all find something to fit their idea of the ‘perfect vacation’ in Daytona Beach. With plenty of hotels, restaurants and nightlife, there is something for everyone.
